Hopkins & Allen was known mainly for their revolvers, but the firm did start manufacturing single shot rifles about 1888.

I believe the barrels are steel with a laminated steel pattern, pattern excellent. Rarely seen Hopkins & Allen double in this condition. Marked "Hopkins & Allen Arms Company Norwich, CT. All screws are in very good condition and orginal. The only fault in the gun is an old repair of a slight crack on the left side of the butt stock, where it meets the frame, appears to extend to the end of the tang then back about one and one half inch along top of stock running to rear, top side of pistol grip, crack appears to have been professionally repaired(Gun appears completely orginal with all parts having matching serial numbers (222xx), built on #1 frame, marked on frame water table, (small frame), double triggers, orginal Hopkins and Allen black grip cap and Hopkins and Allen marked black butt plate. Stock and forearm has excellent sharp checkering, finish is orginal varnish in excellent condition with minor handling/storage dings and slight dents. Checked walnut stock with splinter push button forearm. The action is very tight and the metal to metal fit as well as wood to metal fit is excellent.
90% finish on barrels (no dents inside or outside), receiver shows a modest 60% color case.
